A 58 mm espresso basket is not one standard part. Rim diameter, depth, wall shape, hole pattern and material all vary, and they affect both fit and how you dose. This guide compares the titanium and 304 stainless steel 58 mm baskets Yozcoffee sells, using their listed dimensions.

The four baskets at a glance

Basket Material Shape Key dimensions
Straight-Wall Espresso Filter Basket 58mm Pure titanium Straight wall, ~18 g rated dose 2,549 holes, 0.2 mm each
Ridgeless Espresso Filter Basket 58mm Pure titanium, crystalline finish Ridgeless, flat base, 18 g nominal 70 mm rim, 60 mm opening, 24.5 mm height
Tapered Espresso Filter Basket 58mm SUS304 stainless steel Tapered walls, rolled rim 38 mm height, 34 mm (1.3 in) base
Rounded-Base Espresso Filter Basket 58mm 304 stainless steel Rounded bowl, rolled rim 70 mm rim, 60 mm body, 33 mm height, 292 holes of 0.3 mm

Titanium vs stainless steel

Pure titanium is light and resistant to corrosion. The ridgeless titanium basket's crystalline surface also gives it a distinctive look. 304 stainless steel is the common food-grade basket material, and you can choose from more shapes: our steel baskets come in tapered and rounded-base profiles.

Material alone does not decide shot quality. Hole pattern, basket shape, dose and grind matter more for daily dialing-in.

Wall shape and depth

  • Straight wall: the same profile from rim to base, sized here for about 18 g.
  • Ridgeless: no retaining ridge, so the portafilter's spring holds the basket by friction. If your current basket is also ridgeless, it is a like-for-like swap.
  • Tapered: a broad top that narrows to a smaller 34 mm base, 38 mm tall. Check holder depth and machine clearance.
  • Rounded base: a curved bowl 33 mm tall with a small central field of perforations, made for a compatible 58 mm bottomless portafilter.

How to check fit in three measurements

  1. Rim: the outer diameter across the top lip (70 mm on the ridgeless titanium and rounded-base baskets).
  2. Opening or body: the inner diameter at the top (60 mm on both).
  3. Height: 24.5 mm, 33 mm or 38 mm depending on the basket. Deeper baskets need enough room in your portafilter and under the shower screen.

A 58 mm label alone does not confirm fit. Compare these numbers with the basket you use now.

FAQ

Is a titanium basket worth it?

Choose titanium if you want a light, corrosion-resistant basket or the crystalline finish. If you mainly want a different shape, the tapered and rounded steel baskets cover those options.

What dose should I use in an 18 g basket?

Start near the rated 18 g, then adjust for your beans, grind and available headspace.

Do I need a different tamper or puck screen?

Match the tamper and puck screen to the basket's inner diameter. See our espresso tampers for 58 mm options.
