How to Use
- Place the stainless steel filter securely in the glass carafe.
- Add freshly ground coffee to the filter.
- Pour hot water slowly and evenly over the coffee grounds.
- Allow the brewed coffee to pass into the carafe.
- Remove the filter, then pour into your cup using the glass spout.
For a more controlled pour, pair it with a gooseneck pour-over kettle. A coffee scale can help you repeat the amount of coffee and water you prefer.
A Starting Recipe for 1-2 Cups
- Coffee: 20 g, medium to medium-coarse grind
- Water: 300 g, just off the boil (about 92-96 °C / 198-205 °F)
- Ratio: about 1:15
- Total time: about 3-4 minutes
Pour about 40 g of water to wet the grounds and let them bloom for 30 seconds, then add the rest in slow circles. If the coffee drains very quickly and tastes thin or sour, grind a little finer. If it tastes bitter or muddy, grind a little coarser.
Metal Filter vs. Paper: What to Expect in the Cup
A stainless steel mesh lets more of the coffee's natural oils and a few very fine particles pass through than a paper filter does. The result is a fuller-bodied, richer cup with a little fine sediment at the bottom of the carafe. A slightly coarser grind and a steady, gentle pour keep sediment low, and you can leave the last sip in the carafe for a cleaner finish. If you want the cleanest, lightest cup, a paper-filter dripper is the better choice.

Let the brewer cool, remove the filter and discard the grounds. Hand wash both pieces with mild detergent and a soft sponge, rinse thoroughly and let them dry before storing.

Will the metal filter leave sediment in my coffee?
A small amount of fine sediment is normal with any metal mesh filter. A slightly coarser grind and a gentle, steady pour keep it to a minimum.
