The three-wing 304 stainless steel base evens the surface of the coffee bed as you turn the walnut handle, and the working depth adjusts to suit your dose. Key Features
Adjust the working depth. Loosen the top, turn the middle section to set the base height, then tighten the top again. The engraved scale helps you return to a preferred setting; its numbers are reference marks, not millimeter measurements.
Made for your basket size. The three options are nominal 51, 53 and 58 mm base diameters. Measure your basket before choosing a size. The 58 mm version has a more rounded walnut top and a straighter metal midsection than the 51/53 mm versions shown in the photos.
How to Use
- Fill your portafilter basket with ground coffee.
- Hold the middle section and loosen the walnut top. Turn the middle section to set the distribution depth, then tighten the top to lock it.
- Place the distributor on the coffee bed and rotate gently to spread the grounds.
- Lift the tool away and tamp separately if your recipe calls for it.

Common Questions
Is this a tamper?
No. This tool distributes grounds across the basket before tamping; it does not replace a separate espresso tamper.
How do I choose 51, 53 or 58 mm?
Check the inside diameter of the basket you use. Machine model names alone do not guarantee fit.
Do I still need a WDT tool?
They do different jobs. A WDT tool moves fine needles through the whole coffee bed to break up clumps; this distributor evens the surface. Many home baristas use WDT first, then the distributor, then tamp.
Are the numbers on the side millimeters?
No. They are reference marks for repeating your preferred depth setting.
How is it different from the 3-leaf aluminum distributor?
Both level the coffee bed with a rotating base and adjustable depth. This model pairs a walnut handle with a 304 stainless steel base, while the 3-leaf distributor has a textured aluminum-alloy body with a black anodized finish.
How do I clean it?
Brush away grounds and wipe the stainless steel base after use. Keep the walnut handle dry and do not soak it or put it in the dishwasher.
Will every walnut handle look the same?
No. Natural wood grain and color vary between pieces.
