How to Use
- Prepare the basket. Dose your ground coffee, distribute it evenly and place the portafilter on a stable support.
- Position and press. Place the tamper squarely in the basket with the collar resting on the rim. Hold the rounded grip and press straight down.
- Lift and brew. Lift the tamper straight out, brush loose grounds from the basket rim and continue with your espresso routine.
For counter protection and a supported work area, pair it with a silicone espresso tamping mat.

Should I choose the 51mm or 53mm espresso tamper?
Check the tamper diameter recommended for your exact basket. Select 51mm if it requires a 51mm tamper, or 53mm if it requires a 53mm tamper. The machine name or nominal portafilter size alone does not confirm fit. You can compare sizes in our Espresso Tampers collection.
How does the self-leveling collar work?
The collar sits against the basket rim while the tamping base presses the grounds below it. Keep the tool upright and press vertically with the portafilter securely supported.
What is the base made from?
The ripple base is SUS304 stainless steel. The tamper body combines SUS304 stainless steel and aluminum alloy.
Does a ripple-base espresso tamper replace distribution?
Distribute the grounds before tamping. This tool compacts the prepared coffee bed; its underside has concentric circular ridges.
How should I clean it?
Brush away loose coffee and wipe the base after use. Dry it before storage and avoid abrasive cleaners.
