A compact 500 mL (16.9 fl oz) coffee bean canister for the beans you are brewing this week. Keep it beside your grinder while the rest of the bag stays sealed away. It has a 304 stainless steel interior, a lid held shut by two metal latches against a silicone gasket, a one-way vent insert and a manual month-and-day dial. It holds roughly 150 g (5.3 oz) of whole beans, which is about 8-10 cups at 15-18 g per cup.
Choose this 500 mL canister if you buy small bags, brew one or two cups a day, or want a small container on the coffee bar. For a full bag or bulk buying, choose our airtight coffee canister in 1.5, 1.8 or 2.8 L. Many home baristas use both: the large canister stays closed in the pantry, and this one holds the beans for the next few days.
Hand wash the canister, lid and scoop with mild soap, then dry every part fully before refilling. Wipe coffee dust off the gasket and rim so the lid can close properly.
About 150 g (5.3 oz) of whole beans. The exact amount depends on roast level and bean size, since darker, larger beans take up more space.
No. A full 250 g (8.8 oz) or 340 g (12 oz) bag is more than 500 mL can hold. Fill this canister with the next few days' coffee and keep the rest sealed in its bag or in a larger canister.
Freshly roasted coffee releases CO₂. The vent insert is designed to let that gas out. It does not remove the air already inside, so this is not a vacuum canister.
No. You move the month and day markers by hand. The dial is a reminder of when you filled the canister and does not measure freshness.
A sealed, opaque canister slows staling but does not stop it. Whole beans usually taste best within about 2-4 weeks of roasting, and ground coffee within about 1-2 weeks. A small canister you empty every few days helps you keep to that.
Yes. It works for whole beans, ground coffee, loose-leaf tea and other dry goods. Do not use it for liquids.
No. A cool, dry cupboard or counter spot away from sunlight works best. The fridge adds moisture and odors.
