With the lower spout removed, the basket is visible during the shot. This makes it easier to observe flow behavior while dialing in grind, dose, distribution and tamping technique.

Which espresso machines use the E61 group?
E61 is a standardised brew group shared by many prosumer machines: Rocket (Appartamento, Giotto, Mozzafiato), ECM (Classika, Mechanika, Synchronika), Profitec (Pro 500, 600, 700), Lelit (Mara X, Bianca), Bezzera (Magica, Unica), Quick Mill, Expobar and Vibiemme, among others. If your manual or spec sheet says "E61 group", this portafilter fits.
Does it fit Rancilio Silvia, Gaggia Classic or Breville machines?
No. Rancilio Silvia, Gaggia Classic and La Marzocco use 58 mm baskets but their own lug and locking geometry, not E61. Breville/Sage machines use 54 mm and most De'Longhi machines use 51 mm, so neither accepts a 58 mm portafilter.
Bottomless or spouted: which should I use day to day?
Use bottomless while dialing in a new coffee or fixing channeling, because you can see uneven flow immediately. Switch to the spouted assembly for everyday shots, split doubles into two cups or when you want a mess-free counter.
