Which pour-over brewer fits your routine?

Pour-over coffee is made by passing hot water through ground coffee in a filter. Your brewer and filter shape the cup; capacity, cleanup and access to hot water shape the daily routine.

Glass dripper + paper filter

For a paper-filter routine at home. The glass set pairs a dripper with a 400 ml carafe. Use compatible cone paper filters; they are sold separately.

Reusable steel filter

For brewing without disposable paper. Choose the 400 ml or 600 ml glass brewer with a reusable steel filter, then empty and rinse the filter after brewing.

Compact automatic pour

For a small cup at your desk or away from home. The 160 ml automatic brewer distributes water over the grounds. Add pre-heated water: it does not heat the water itself.

Choose the pieces that work together

Start with the filter

Match paper shape and size to the dripper. Cone, flat-bottom and basket filters are not interchangeable. A reusable steel filter is a different brewing option, not a universal insert.

Size for your usual brew

Choose capacity around your recipe and leave room for safe pouring. A 400 ml carafe is not a promise of 400 ml of finished coffee; grounds retain some of the brew water.

Add control where you need it

A burr grinder helps adjust grind size; a scale measures coffee and water; a gooseneck spout helps direct the stream. Check heating method, voltage and plug options on each kettle page.

A simple starting recipe

For a manual brewer and server with room for this dose, try 20 g of coffee and 320 g of water: a 1:16 ratio. Scale down for smaller brewers and follow their stated limits.

  1. Fit the correct filter and prepare a medium grind. Rinse paper if used, then discard the rinse water.
  2. Wet the grounds with about 40 g of hot water and pause for 30–45 seconds.
  3. Pour slowly in stages until the scale reads 320 g of total brew water, including the first pour.
  4. Let the coffee drain and taste. Keep the ratio steady while adjusting grind size one step at a time.

Pour-over coffee gear: common questions

What equipment do I need for pour-over coffee?

Start with a dripper or brewer, a compatible filter, ground coffee, hot water and a cup or server. A scale helps repeat the coffee-to-water ratio. Add a burr grinder if you use whole beans, and a gooseneck kettle if you want more control over the stream.

Do all pour-over coffee makers need paper filters?

No. The 400 ml glass dripper set needs compatible cone paper filters, which are not included. The 400/600 ml glass brewer with a reusable steel filter is designed for paperless brewing. Check the specific product and selected variant before buying filters.

Do I need a gooseneck kettle?

It is useful, but not essential. A narrow spout makes small, controlled pours easier. You can start with a kettle that pours steadily. Check whether the model heats water electrically, is suitable for a stated stovetop type, or only holds water heated elsewhere.

What grind size and ratio should I start with?

For a manual pour-over brewer, start with a medium grind and a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio, such as 20 g of coffee to 320 g of water. Use a smaller dose for a smaller brewer. Adjust the grind gradually based on taste and drainage; the same grinder setting will not suit every brewer or coffee.

Does the portable automatic pour-over brewer heat water?

The 160 ml automatic brewer featured here requires pre-heated water. Its powered mechanism distributes the water over the grounds; it does not boil or heat it. Check its capacity and power requirements before planning a travel setup.

Should I buy a set or individual pieces?

Choose individual pieces if you already have a suitable grinder, kettle or scale. A set can make it easier to gather equipment for a new routine or travel, but included parts vary. Review the product page and selected options to confirm the brewer, filter, grinder, kettle and case you will receive.
