Which size should I choose?
Measure the inside diameter of your portafilter basket and select 51 mm, 53 mm, or 58.35 mm accordingly. Do not rely only on the espresso machine’s advertised group size.
Will I need to change my coffee dose?
The screen is 0.8 mm thin, but available headspace varies by basket and dose. If the portafilter feels tight or the screen touches the shower screen, reduce the dose slightly.
Which side faces up?
Place the fine mesh side toward the group head and the structured perforated side toward the tamped coffee bed.
Does a puck screen eliminate channeling?
It is designed to encourage more even water distribution, but grind size, distribution, tamping, dose, and machine setup still affect extraction.
How should I clean it?
Rinse shortly after brewing, remove trapped grounds gently, and let the screen dry completely. Avoid bending or aggressively scrubbing the fine mesh.
