Typical targets: for espresso, about 18 g of coffee to 36 g of yield in 25-30 seconds; for pour-over, 15 g of coffee to 250 g of water with a 30-45 second bloom. Weighing both sides of the recipe is what makes the next cup taste like the last one.

Will it fit under my espresso machine's portafilter?
The platform is 140 × 124 mm, so it fits most drip trays. Measure the clearance between your drip tray and the portafilter spouts with your cup in place; on compact machines with low clearance, the mini espresso scale may fit better.
Can it time espresso and pour-over brewing?
Yes. The built-in timer lets you track espresso extraction or pour-over bloom and total brew time alongside weight.
Do I really need a scale for coffee?
A scale is the single biggest upgrade for consistency. Weighing the dose and the yield (or water) lets you repeat a recipe exactly - for example 18 g in, 36 g out in 25-30 s for espresso, or 15 g coffee to 250 g water for pour-over - instead of guessing by scoops or volume.
