The cup base measures approximately 7 cm across and is shaped to align with compatible 58 mm baskets during transfer. Portafilter rims and grinder clearances vary, so compare your equipment before ordering.
58 mm is the standard portafilter size on most prosumer and commercial machines, including Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, Profitec, ECM, Rocket, La Marzocco and other E61 group heads. Both pieces are included: a tall dosing cup and a separate handheld tool for gathering and leveling grounds inside the cup.
Does it fit every 58 mm portafilter?
It is designed for compatible 58 mm baskets, but rim shape and clearance can vary. Compare the cup dimensions with your equipment before ordering.
Does the distributor replace a tamper?
No. The small distributor organizes grounds inside the cup. After transfer, use your normal puck-preparation and tamping process.
Can I use the cup for manual brewing?
Yes. It can hold and transfer beans or grounds for weighing, grinding and manual-brew preparation as well as espresso.
Which espresso machines use a 58 mm portafilter?
Most prosumer and commercial machines: Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, Profitec, ECM, Rocket, La Marzocco and other E61-group machines. Breville/Sage home machines use 54 mm and need a 54 mm dosing cup instead. Check your portafilter basket diameter before ordering.
What is the difference between a dosing cup and a dosing funnel?
A dosing cup catches grounds under the grinder and carries them to the basket; a dosing funnel (or dosing ring) sits on top of the portafilter to stop grounds spilling while you grind directly into the basket. Many home baristas use both, or a cup alone if their grinder does not grind straight into the portafilter.
What else do I need for puck prep?
After transferring the dose, most people use a WDT tool to break up clumps, then a tamper. This cup pairs with the 7-needle WDT tool, the magnetic dosing funnel and any 58 mm tamper, such as the spring-loaded tamper with stand.
How should I clean it?
Remove loose grounds, wipe or rinse the parts as needed, avoid abrasive cleaners and dry everything fully before storage.
